Who Are We?

A couple, infected by...

Mountain Bike Madness!!

Laura and Jeff are both PMBIA (Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association) Level 2 certified instructors and have many years of experience guiding and cycling in the Bragg Creek and Kananaskis area. Alberta 66 Mountain Biking was launched in the spring of 2017 as a vehicle to increase our involvement with the mountain biking community and to share the sport and trails we love with as many people as possible.  It is humbling how well received our offerings have been, and it has precipitated our move to the hamlet of Bragg Creek to be closer to the trails.  Let us show you our backyard!

My sister introduced me to mountain biking in 2006. I found that first ride SO HARD but so exhilarating... I was hooked. I started riding weekly with friends and clubs in Calgary, and dabbled in cross country racing.

On a trip to Fernie in 2011 with friends, I met my husband Jeff. He encouraged me to try more technical descending, and I realized how much fun it was. I began riding a wider variety of trails, from XC to downhill and started racing Enduro in 2014.  My bike allows me to get outside, challenge myself, meet amazing people and have so much fun.

I properly got into Mountain Biking in 1998, my friends (who I still ride with today) convinced me to come out for a ride with them and I was quickly hooked. I dabbled in cross country racing for a while, but I'm a very lazy climber so it wasn't a good fit. Then Enduro racing started to happen and I found I could climb as lazy as I wished and then turn up the "race mode" for the downhill.

Mostly I just like to ride my bike with good people. I am eternally grateful to the sport for providing me with some of my most treasured friendships, as well as introducing me to the love of my life.

Why the name "Alberta 66"?

We are named after the Alberta 66 Highway which begins just south of the Hamlet of Bragg Creek. It runs 28 km to the west and ends at the Little Elbow Recreation Area.  This short stretch of highway is home to many kilometers of awesome singletrack and contains 5 trailheads accessing different areas of the vast trail network.
