Jeff

Woodgate

Who?: I kept trying to write this in the third person, but I couldn't do it!  Alberta 66 MTB is my full time job through the biking season. I do most of the coordination of bookings, manage the website and ride bikes lots and lots! I have been riding mountain bikes in the area since the late 90's and have come to know and love all the trails.  I am a PMBIA level 2 Coach, comfortable teaching all levels of riders.  I believe in incremental learning, adjusting my communication style to fit the student, and that better fundamentals lead to being the best rider you can be.

Avalible for: Instruction & guiding

Availability: Pretty much all daylight hours during the riding season (subject to prior booking).  Please use or Book Online tool to select a slot that works for you. If you are unable to find a time that works please contact us via email.

Specializations:  Trail skills, managing complex terrain, increasing speed and control, introduction to jumps and drops and I'm also perfectly happy just riding bikes and introducing people to the incredible trails in our area.

Stéphane Pelletier

Who?: Stéphane has 14 years of experience at being great at bikes. Skills nurtured and honed at Winsport lead to chasing a career in slope style competition that took him around the world.  He ran a freestyle MTB team for Winsport and then independently over a period of four years. He is now making himself available to help bring your riding to the next level!

"My strengths include dirt jumping, trick progression, and advanced downhill riding techniques. I love helping people learn new skills and do my best to show skills both visually and break it down verbally to help all types of learners."

Scott (Scotty)

MacTavish

Who?: Scotty loves being out in nature, either on his bike or hiking. We have been riding with him for many years and his good humor and relaxed approach to (seemingly) everything, makes every ride he is on better.  He is a certified Field Leader for hiking excursions, and has been leading guided hikes, and kayak tours in AZ, NV and Utah for the past 5 years. This in combination with his knowledge of the local cross country MTB trails translates to being the an ideal guide for your Mountain biking adventure.  

Avalible for: Mountain Bike Guiding

Availability: Daylight hours during the Mountain Bike season (subject to prior booking or engagement). To book Scotty for a guiding session please contact us via email.

Specializations: Being able to happily pedal at any pace with a smile on his face.  Scotty is also something of a photography/videography expert, and can offer tips to anyone that wishes to include that in their session.

Tara

Walmsley

Who?:  Tara has been riding Mountain Bikes for 26 years - thanks to the influence of her uncle and cousins. She's raced a little bit of everything from XC to DH but really found her passion in Enduro Racing starting in 2013. She has traveled all over Western NA and even down to Costa Rica for races and has met amazing people along the way. 

Tara began coaching in 2013 at first helping out beginner and intermediate courses where she found she really enjoyed sharing her love of biking. Within a couple of years she was leading her own descending/enduro style group programs and private sessions and wants to keeps sharing her knowledge and passion with you!

Availability: Tara is available daytimes and evenings (subject to prior booking).

Arden

Greanya

Who?: Arden has been an avid mountain biker for years and it is what initially brought him to Calgary in 2001. About 5 years ago he entered into the downhill race scene with his son. This lead to the creation of Drift Racing,  a program for youths age 13 and up that are looking to progress through the levels of downhill racing. 

He is now making himself available to bring his coaching expertise to all through private bookings.
"I believe in a measured approach to progression that builds a riders confidence through knowledge, experience, consistency and consider it a great tribute to my coaching that I have, to date, been out paced by most of the athletes that I have had for multiple years! Several of these racers have also qualified for world cup events."

Availability: Primarily Monday and Thursday Evenings as well as about 2 weekend days a month.  If you would like to book Arden for a private coaching session, please contact us via email.

Andra

Andrew

Who?:  We got to know Andra over the 2019 season as she was a customer in some of our Multi Day Sessions and private sessions.  She got that love of mountain biking that infects so many of us and is now a PMBIA level 1 certified instructor, and is building experience by working with us during our courses.

Availability: Andra has some evening and weekend availability to do private sessions.

Other stuff: Andra's other gig is that she works as a Physiotherapist. She is also very involved with the Bike Cochrane organization, currently serving as their Event Coordinator.

Laura Mislan

Who?: Alberta 66 MTB was founded by Laura in 2017.  She is the brains behind the whole operation.  She is no slouch in the riding and teaching department either.  She is a PMBIA Level 2 certified coach who loves to share her stoke for mountain biking.

Avalible for: Instruction & guiding

Availability: Evenings and weekends (subject to prior booking). To book Laura for a private session please contact us via email, and we will arrange a time.

Specializations: Teaching trail skills to all levels, comfortable in all types of terrain.  Knowlege of the local trail system as well as being informed about the flora and fauna.

Monica

Sparling

Who?:  Monica is a seasoned educator and instructor who specializes in youth and accessible programming. She says the best part about mountain biking is "being able to bring more people to love being in the mountains" and especially wants kids to understand how they can control and enjoy risk in developmentally healthy ways. (She may have a masters degree in this!) 

Avalible for: Youth Coaching and "Build your own Camps"

Availability: Broad availability through the summer months. 

Specializations: Helping youth or adults grow their mountain biking skills.

Other stuff: Monica started riding in Australia and has since taken her bike up, down and along trails in BC, New Zealand, the UK, and now Alberta. Through 15 years of teaching and guiding in a variety of outdoor pursuits, she lives for seeing the grins that come at the top of mountains and the bottom of trails when something epic has been achieved. 

Logan Keen

Who?:  Logan has been riding since the age of seven. He was introduced though his parents love of riding and quickly became hooked. At thirteen he started racing XC and quickly transition to Enduro. His extensive skill set comes though racing all types of events from dual slalom, dirt jumps and DH. Logan has been riding in the Highway 66 corridor for a long time and knows the trails of Moose, Prairie Mountain and Bragg Creek very well. He is very stoked to be having a part in shaping the next Generation of riders!

Avalible for:  Youth coaching and "Build your own camps"

Availability:  Anytime during daylight hours during the summer 

Specializations: Technical riding, Jumps drops, racing and line choice. Also a expert in having fun!!
