Moose Mountain Enduro Race

COVID 19 Declaration - MUST Read and Sign before end of Day Sept 20th 2021


 

  1. If you develop symptoms of COVID, or test positive for COVID, or need to isolate based on AHS health guidelines for any reason related to COVID, do not attend and we will refund you your entry fee – even if you cancel on the morning of the event. (Please note our normal refund policy is no refunds the week before the race, this refunding due to COVID is to encourage folks who are sick to stay home).

  2. Only registered racers, volunteers, sponsors, and campers are allowed in the start/finish area at Paddy’s Flat Group Campsite. Minors racing alone may bring one adult to the start/finish area. You will be provided a wristband when you check in for camping/racing/volunteering, you must be wearing one to be within Paddy’s Flat Group Site.

  3. Registration times and Race Start times will be staggered to space out racers. You MUST register and start at the time allotted – it will be published on www.alberta66mtb.com/mooseduro. If you want to race with specific people, then you can arrange to meet them on the course, do not wait for them in the start/finish area (exception for minors)

  4. You must stay 2 meters apart from other participants who are not within your household – if you are within 2 meters from others (i.e. when picking up registration package, or receiving help from a bike mechanic) then you must wear a mask. Masks will be available on site.

  5. Aide station and finish line food is pre-packaged and will be handed to you by event volunteers using sanitized or gloved hands. You must use hand sanitizer (will be available at the event) before receiving items and wear a mask.

  6. Water will be available at the Aide station and Start line – you must use hand sanitizer before filling bottles from a cooler, bottled water will also be available.

  7. If friends or family want to spectate – they are allowed on the course but must stay at least 2 meters away from all participants.

MooseDuro is a multi-stage Enduro race held by Alberta 66 MTB and Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society (MMBTS).  This grassroots event is brought to life by a passionate crew of volunteers and sponsors from the local community and has sold out every year since its inception in 2017.  All profits from the race go back to MMBTS for maintaining and building trails on the mountain.

What to Expect:

Race Information 

  • All racers MUST be MMBTS members in order to be covered by insurance. Memberships can be purchased online .  

  • Categories will be Mens and Womens, U15, U21, Open, and Masters (40+). No pro category. Ebike Open Men and Open Women category only.

  • Full Face helmet is not mandatory, but full face and body armor is strongly recommended for all racers

  • There will be no shuttling for any of the racers to the stages, all courses and categories are pedal-powered

  • Race day changes from Short to Long course may be permitted, however we prefer that changes are completed by Friday, September 24th at Noon. Any questions, email info@alberta66mtb.com

  • Race will be taped/marked by evening on Saturday, Sept. 25th

  • Race course IS NOW AVAILABLE. If using Trailforks on your phone: go to Settings>Downloaded Regions>Re-sync your Alberta region and then search in Routes for MooseDuro

    • 2021 Race Course:

      • Long Course will race Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4​

      • Short Course is ONLY Stages 2, 3, and 4.

      • Stage 1: Upper Family Guy to Toothless, includes a small climb, toothless "Steeps" are NOT in the race

      • Stage 2: Ushoulda to Elbow Valley

      • Stage 3: SECRET Stage, to be announced morning of MooseDuro, it will be a blue level trail

      • Stage 4: Brakeless 

  • Cell reception sporadic throughout the race course - course marshalls will have radios to communicate in event of emergency

  • Closest accommodation is McLean Creek Campground, or hotel in Calgary

  • All Racers and Volunteers are eligible for prizes – a raffle ticket will be given to you at the event

Race Day Schedule Sunday, September 26th 2021:

  • Start/Finish area will be at Paddy's Flat Group Campsite

  • Parking is available in the Paddy's Flat Visitor Lot (the lot near the entrance of the campsite) and in the lot before the group campsite (turn left as you enter Paddy's Flat, go down that road and you'll find parking right before the group site. If both of these are full, park at the base of Moose Mountain Road and bike over to Paddy's Group Site (~1km).  Please do not park on the shoulder of Hwy 66.

  • 7:00 am: Sponsors arrive to set up

  • 7:15 am: Paddy's Flat Group Campsite: Volunteer Meeting for Registration/General volunteers

  • 7:30 am: Paddy's Flats Group Campsite Volunteers meeting for Course Marshalls and First Aid – volunteers will be assigned locations and will be shuttled (masks mandatory in the van) to their positions or can pedal to their spots. 

  • RACER REGISTRATION WILL BE DONE IN WAVES TO ALLOW FOR DISTANCING, DO NOT LINE UP BEFORE YOUR TIME (exception for minors who want to be accompanied by parents) - MASKS MUST BE WORN IN LINE, PLEASE STAY 2 M APART

    • 7:45–8:30am: Racer Registration: Long Course Masters Men and Women, Long Course U21 and U15 Men and Women, ALL Short Course (non-ebike)

    • 8:30–9:15am: Racer Registration: Long Course Open Men and Women, ALL E-Bikes

  • RACE BRIEFING AND START - WE WILL ASSIGN YOU A STAGE ORDER FOR THE RACE TO SPACE RIDERS OUT ON COURSE:

    • 9:15am: Race Briefing and Start ALL RACERS 

    • Stage order on the long course will be either 1,2,3,4 or 4,1,2,3 - if you want to race a specific course so you can ride with friends, ask for one option when you sign in.  All Short coursers are 2,3,4.

  • RACE FINISH: WEAR A MASK TO RETURN TIMING CHIP AND TO PICK UP FOOD​​

    • ​You will be able to pick up your food by stating your name at the food table

  • ~3:00pm: Race course closes – course sweeps will take down course markings and return to the start/finish area at Paddy's Flat Group Campsite

  • ~3:30pm: Podiums and Prizes at Paddy's Flat Group Campsite

Costs:

  • 50$ for MMBTS members. No racing or waitlist spots available to non-members.
